Wendy's graduation from Tomorrow's Leaders
Daybreak - Supporting adults with learning disabilities - Outcome Achieved
As part of Wendy's person centred plan, Wendy joined a group called the Tomorrows Leaders in which she was asked to complete a project of her choice. At the end of the course there was a graduation celebration.
Please read below Wendy's experiences of the graduation day....
We set our stalls for our projects we had done over the last 6 months. Mine was on Housing for Disabled and Elderly Sheltered Accommodation. i did research into Housing and the difficulties people face when they need to be housed, and when they have changes to their lives.
We all went into another room to talk about ourselves and exchange gifts. Then we made speeches and danced.
Then we went to meet our guests with juice and millennium biscuits. My guests were Margaret (a friend of the Family) and Christine from Daybreak.
Soon it was lunch time. We had chicken burgers / beef burgers and coleslaw in a bun and drinks. We had a photo opportunity to remember our fabulous day. Please click here for more photos
We all received graduation certificates and the co-workers.
Then we went to look around other peoples stalls and projects. they were about Travel Training, Safety Outside, Mental Health, Computer Safety, Housing in Northumberland, Newcastle and North Tyneside.
I would like to thank Tomorrow's Leaders for accepting me on the course and Daybreaks support for providing the staff especially Sarah and Christine.
Then we packed our stalls up after a very busy day and we all went home in taxis or on trains.
