Montagu Hub Open Day

Daybreak supporting Adults with Learning Disabilities - Montagu Hub Open Day

Montagu Hub Open Day

On Friday 28th August Daybreak offically opened the new hub at Montagu, Cowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne

Our people worked very hard to make decorations, banners and bunting. Donna Cheshire from Love Textiles decorated the feature wall  which looked fantastic with Daybreak's mission statement, vision and values . Stephen Miller - Triple Paralympic Champion was on hand to cut the ribbon which was hard to cut at first due to the blunt scissors! but he managed to cut it and Daybreak's new hub was offically opened.  We raised £335.50 on the tombola, raffle, DVD, cards and cake stalls,  Donations were gratefully received from parents/carers/visitors for the stalls.

Daybreak wish to thank all for their kind donations and special thanks to Tyne Lodge, Tesco's, Sammy Annes and Stephen Miller for their generous donations.

In the main hall, the Montagu dance troupe opened the proceedings followed by singing. SMILE through sports provided extra entertainment and issued charity bracelets to the highest scorers.  There was food, drink and wine in the Cafe area.

Stephen Miller and Mary Curran were interviewed by the Made in Tyne and Wear TV programme.  For a limited time only you can view the celebrations online at Catch up dated 28/08/15.

Stephen Miller said upon opening the hub "It's really great to be here today. It's a great honor to be asked to open the new Daybreak hub." He then went on to say  "I was approached a while ago by Christine asking me to get involved.  As soon as I visited Daybreak I knew I wanted to get involved with the hub, It's a great place . They are doing a great job". Stephen has agreed to become a patron for Daybreak.

Over a hundred people turned out to share in Daybreak's celebrations. Visitors included other organisations eg WEA, the local community of Cowgate and Montagu tenants.

Parents/carers feedback say Dayabreak at Montagu is a fabulous place for day provision and even though there were reservations initially about the move they are totally unfounded having experienced such a beautiful openday and seen first-hand how the building works for everybody and how happy everyone is here.
