Kiosk provides platform for social enterprise

Daybreak Acomb have been working in the snack kiosk on Hexham Station. At the moment this is on a trial basis. The kiosk will be open from 7:00 a.m ti 2:00 p.m. We will be selling breakfast muffins, individual portions of quiches, cakes, and pies, and teas and coffe.Hub manager Angela said "this si a good opportunity for our people. It gets us out into the community, it will make money, and it is a stepping-stone for volunteering and work placements". During the week the kiosk made a total of £461.90. Customers gave great feedback many saying the food was good value for money. Josephine said "I learned how to use the till and the coffee machine, and how to greet customers and use money. Maybe in the future I could get a job in a cafe". The kiosk was featured in the Hexham Courant, and we will continue our tial during the Easter holidays in April.
