Heaps of praise for Acomb gardeners

The gardeners have built some new compost bins out of old palettes. The clients learnt some woodwork skills, and how to use tools safely. Simon says, "The gardening groups wanted to find a way to make our own compost and they saw an idea in a gardening magazine about how to make compost bins by recycling old wooden pallets. We were donated some by the local saw mill and got others from Down To Earth in Hexham. The group have enjoyed using various tools such as the drill, saw, screwdrivers and staple - gun to build the bins. We hope that the bins will be able to turn the huge amount of autumn leaves we clear up from the grounds into useable leaf much to use on our growing areas. It has been a great group project and everyone can be proud of all their hard work.
