The Fayre was a success
We opened our doors on Saturday 2 December 2017 for our Christmas Fayre. We really had no idea if the Fayre would be a success or not, as previously we had held our Fayre during the week. This was a new venture for us at the request of a local member of the public.
The aim of the day was to raise both the awareness of what we do and essential funds for the Hub. The Fayre gave us the opportunity to showcase the work done by our people.
Leading up to the Fayre our clients worked hard to produce arts and crafts to sell including rag wreaths, wooden Santa’s and Angels, and bird boxes.
Through social media were able to offer local craft makers the opportunity to purchase a stall and sell their wares. The stalls sold a variety of things including knitted dolls, Christmas decorations, Christmas cards and stocking fillers.
Santa and his helpful Elf even found the time to come to our Fayre and, courtesy of our Sainsbury’s Local in Coundon, children could have their faces painted – the butterfly designs were awesome.
“Journey’s” friends and families were very generous, providing us with some fantastic tombola, raffle and bottle prizes.
The café was well stocked with homemade cakes and produce donated by our Sainsbury’s Local.
Everyone involved worked very hard to make the morning a success and we raised a massive £504. Thank you to everyone who supported us.
Thank you to our people for helping on the day – Jordan, Dean, Emma, Nigel and our Volunteer, Lyndsey.
Special thanks to Sue (Sallie’s Mum) for baking the Walnut Cake – it was simply amazing.
Thanks also to Hazel (Linda’s Mum) for managing our bottle stall.
Thank you to the all staff, clients, families and friends who made the day a success.
A huge thanks to our Sainsbury’s Local in Coundon, we are their charity of choice for 2017, for their generous donations.
Wishing you a very happy Christmas and all the best for 2018 from the Journey Team at Coundon.
