Bake Off inspires Coundon Clients
A delicious day of baking is enjoyed at Coundon Hub
Split into groups of four, the bakers were shown how to create different culinary treats. Highlights included biscuits, which were decorated with sugar paste and icing, and ice cream cone cupcakes. The cones were a clear winner for Elizabeth D and Laura A, who both thoroughly enjoyed the all-day event. Laura said: “I loved baking and would like to do more of it here.” Elizabeth, who counts her mother’s chocolate cake as her favourite, gets her ideas from a Jane Asher cake recipe book. The session was overseen by Elizabeth MacIntyre, who has been teaching at Bishop Auckland College for eight years. She said: “The session at Daybreak went extremely well. I had a range of activities to suit the needs of the learners to help them bake and decorate sweet treats.” “Activities included shaping and baking sugar biscuits, creating ice-cream cupcakes, piping with buttercream, designing marshmallow flower decorations and baking and decorating scones.”
