Coundon Volunteer Life Skills Assistant

The sucessful volunteer would be asked to;

  • Provide assistant to our Life Skills Instructors and support clients throughout the delivery of activities to include independant life skills; community services and any other activities as required.  
  • Ensure that the welfare, health and safety of our people is a major priority at all times
  • Be creative and open to any ideas and suggestions for possible activities by our people (within reasonable limits*)
  • Participate in extra activities as requested by our people (within reasonable limits*)
  • Communicate with Life Skills Instructors on a day to day basis for any amendments to timetables and tasks for the day
  • Assist with lunch time supervision when available
  • Provide assistance throughout activities to our people to ensure they receive the most out of their sessions at Daybreak.  This may be in group or one to one situations
  • To carry our all  mandatory training ,mutally identified at support sessions
  • Ensure a high quality of service is delivered for our people, carers, care managers and other stakeholders
  • Policies and our strategy agreed by the Board of Directors are reflected in communications within and outside the organisation
  • Respect Confidentiality concerning both our people and company policies
  • Ensure feedback is given to Life Skills Instructors / Managers with regards to comments from carers, parents, professionals and other customers
  • Ensure that personal views are not passed on to carers, parents, professionals and other customers, that any queries with regards to services are directed to the Hub Manager
  • This is a key public role and a professional manner must be adopted at all times

Experience, skills and abilities required;

  • Be able to demonstrate competency in working with people, desirably people with learning disabilities
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Good organisational skills
  • Belief in Equal Opportunities

  • Be professional at all times
  • An open and tolerant manner
  • Ability to use initiative
  • A friendly and open attitude is always appreciated
